Wild Petunia (Ruellia humilis)

I'm native to NA but not NY state. I should be planted in gardens, but not in wild spaces. 

I'm called a wild petunia, but actually I only look like a petunia, I'm in a differnt plant family than the familiar petunia. 

I like drier conditions and bloom during the heat of the summer

I'm adaptable, so I can become agressive sometimes. 

I attract many insects including the Common Buckeye Butterfly.

I also attract hummingbirds.
