** I’m a NA native, but technically not native to NY. I should be used in your garden and not in wild areas.
I'm a mat-forming perennial that makes a nice ground cover.
Despite being a ground cover I share my space well and other plants can grow through my low foliage.
I do best in full sun and thrives in more depleted soil. Too much moisture tends to cause trouble for me. I'm very drought resistant.
I'm a host plant for the Gray Hairstreak butterfly and Checkered Skipper butterfly caterpillars.
If you're concerned about deer, plant me among alliums and milkweed to deter deer and rabbits.
I fit well in a formal garden as a ground cover or edge plant.
