  • I'm a native of New York state.

I’m rhizomatous. I make a nice ground cover in woodlands and forested areas.

I have both lovely dark green leaves and beautiful yellow blooms.

I attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators.

I’m the host plant for checkerspot and painted lady butterflies and also several moth species.

There are at least six species of specialist bees that only pollinate Helianthus species of which I am one.
