  • I'm a native of NY state and and native in Tompkins County, NY

I am short for a lily, only growing 1ft. I have a large flower considering my height.

I'm very showy becasue I open faced upward rather than drooping. This is because my anthers can close their pores during rain to protect my pollen. This is an unusual characteristic.

I grow in meadows as well as open woods

I attract bees, hummingbirds and large butterflies like monarchs and swallowtails.
