  • I’m a native of New York state and Tompkins County, NY

I like gritty and rocky soils with dry to medium moisture. In good growing conditions I’ll spread and create a nice ground cover.

I’m a wooly plant. In fact some people think that’s my nicest characteristic, but I like my cute flowers.

I can be difficult to differentiate from my kin, A. neglecta. The easiest way to tell the difference is by our leaves.  I have wider leaves with 3-5 prominent veins; A. neglecta has 1-2 veins.

I’m the host plant for the American Lady butterfly.
